File talk:Emily Cowgill Review.pdf

From Beyond Social

I really like the project she chose to review, because I think the problems Steve Cutt is facing and the contexts he’s working on are becoming more and more wider and relevant in today’s society.

From artistic part, it is also interesting how he have managed to combine nowadays to 30’s and 40’s cartoons and comics and therefore created it in a ironic but comic way, so that it really gets to people.

For me, when analyzing the project from participartory part, is clear that there is only one man making these illustrations, but there is people needed for his work to have an influence and meaning.

I also think, that this project is very transformative, because people looking he’s work are all starting to think about the problems and that these things pictured are accurate right now in the world. As an output, maybe people even starting to think, how they live their life and how to change it.

When looking at this project from rational perspective, I would categorize it to the auto-relational side, because Cutt does all of his artwork by himself and how he sees the world and it’s problems.

Comparing the project from the perspective of digestiveness and subversiveness. I think that with his work, he tries to have a subversive influence, as he points out the problems in our society nowadays, but at the same time, his goal is to make people aware and think about the problem.
