‘Koppelteken’ or in English the dash refers to our cultural identity and the artists exhibiting their work are from a diverse cultural background. We don’t belong to one specific group and this dash determines how we navigate through the Dutch society. No one can clothe themselves with a different identity, therefore no one can truly experience what it means to live in the realm of the dash. All artists within this exhibition will share their own personal stories and experiences. Our goal is to make the public aware that one’s cultural identity does not define them, yet is a part of them as individuals.

The Koppelteken exhibition will start on the 9th of September with an openings event at 19:00. All artists will be introduced. On the 10th of September till the 17th of October every three days there will be new projects exhibited.

Koppelteken is een tentoonstelling over cultural crossroads. Dit refereert naar onze culturele identiteit. De mensen die zullen exposeren hebben verschillende achtergronden. We zijn niet het ene, maar ook niet het andere. Het koppelteken benadrukt hoe wij ons navigeren binnen de Nederlandse samenleving. Deze tentoonstelling is dus bedoeld voor iedereen die zich kan vinden in het idee van het 'koppelteken'. Zolang je niet iemand bent die buiten de Nederlandse culturele norm valt, weet je niet hoe iemand dat ervaart. In deze tentoonstelling willen wij dat iedereen die dit ‘Koppelteken’ ervaart, hun eigen verhaal en ervaringen kunnen delen. Ons doel is om bezoekers bewust te laten maken van het feit dat iemands culturele achtergrond hun niet definieert, het is slechts een deel van wie zij zijn als individu.
De
Koppelteken expositie begint op 9 september met een openingsevenement vanaf 19:00. Alle deelnemers zullen hier worden geïntroduceerd. Vervolgens wordt er vanaf 10 september tot 17 oktober om de drie dagen een nieuw project getoond. Elke deelnemer laat een eigen project zien en mag zelf bepalen hoe ze de ruimte willen inrichten.
