A longer description about this event.
‘Bodies in Spaces’ is an exhibition organized by the students of the Minor ‘Cultural Diversity’ at Willem de Kooning Academy. Four groups of students explore several topics regarding social diversity such as cultural exclusion, code-switching and social norms, knowledge production and intersecting identities. Each work is a result of embodied experiences, as every experience in every space is different for each individual. Anyone’s perspective on social encounters is a result of the body in which one lives in. As a diverse group of students being in a diverse city we are confronted with people’s different perspectives regularly. In this exhibition we show the result of research based on these experiences and ask questions about the way in which different bodies can be included in a larger society. Are you aware of the way your body is perceived in a space?
