According to the inhabitants, one of the biggest eye sores is a 3-meter-high metal spiked wall that separates them from the park. It was placed with the intention to close the park every evening. But with no money for an operator, it just stands there purposeless. During the many conversations we had with residents, we found out that most of them missed social interaction and a proper place to meet. We came up with an idea to re-use the plastic waste and provide them with a meeting place. This led to, HEKKIE. With the idea to inspire people we came up with the plan to use the metal fence to expose art and provoke social interaction. By collecting the waste plastic creates that are been used at the market, we were able to manufacture seats that can be attached to the bars. With this we create a social meeting place and a possibility for people to use the fence in a way that invites people to meet.
