De Ceuvel

De Ceuvel was crowned ‘Frame’ of Public Dutch Award; It’s one of Europe most sustainable and unique urban developments. Next to the van Hasselt canal at the IJ in Amsterdam-Noord, de ceuvel is a planned workplace for creative and social enterprises. The land was fixed for a 10-year rental agreement from the city of Amsterdam. After a group of initiators won the offer, the land was transformed to a regenerative urban oasis.

The formal industry terrain was slowly formed to this unique urban development. Houseboats were upgraded to offices, studios or workshops for creative and social entrepreneurs. The public restaurants linke Ceuvel Café and Bed & Breakfast are a part of the plan. The café is also used for shows, expositions and research. www.deceuvel.nl
