This project focuses on the topic of ownership and the acts of inhabiting space. Exhibiting 100 locations in the city where various ways of occupation of space are exposed and mapping the future where our habits of claiming space take over the city.
Nowadays various demographics are struggling to benefit from society, not just the expected groups. Groups such as single parents, co parents, elderly and generation Z are having problems as well. These different groups have particularly one thing in common: they don’t consist of the traditional norm of a nuclear family.
Dutch legislation is being created solely for nuclear families. By creating such legislation, a large part of society, non-nuclear families, is being excluded. The Dutch government gives tax breaks for shared living as a nuclear family, but not for other shared living arrangements.
These non-nuclear households are lonely, can’t speak up, don’t get the care they need, are economically unstable or are unable to find accommodation due to the housing shortage and high rent.
There is an alternative: The kinship economy. It's a new economic method started by social groups that had already built new family structures beyond the nuclear. Out of these new family structures a new economy was born. They create bonds around adaptability, inclusivity, care and knowledge that foster support and connection.
The design proposal of this project is multigenerational homes, a concept that supports non-nuclear households. Residents in the kinship economy will not be dependent of the government for support and will be receiving or giving help to their peers.
Podcast platform The Kinship Homes:

Greeting ceremonies
People have more greeting ceremonies than other primates. In the time of the hunter/gatherers, the hunters would leave the camp and come back with their catch. Other primates almost always stay together in a group, so they are not in need of more greeting ceremonies.
Ways of greeting
- Raise eyebrows
- Tilt head backwards
- Smile
- Nod
- Shake hands
- Wave (different ways)
- Hugging (different ways)
- Kissing (different ways)
- Rubbing noses together Mãori Hongi Greeting
- Bringing face to cheeks
Current findings and questions
Greeting someone you know can be awkward and everyone has personal preferences regarding the subject. How can I create a way for people to discuss their preference? How do people show their power within a handshake and how does that affect the conversation afterwards?
I created this wiki during the vulnerable publishing workshop to better understand how to publish my graduation project after graduating.

Biggest frustrations
Januari 2020:
Writing my competence assessment before graduating. Although it gives me an excellent opportunity to reflect upon to projects I've done this past year, it also feels like one of those mandatory assignments that no one actually want to do.
Januari 2020:
A few weeks ago a nail studio opened up in the shop below my appartement. Personally I find acrylic nails to be an eyesore, but to each there own. The shop itself I have no problem with, the products they use to apply the nails I do have problem with.
In this specific product they use is an element known as MMA(or Methyl MethAcrylaat) which is banned in the US due to the smell and health concerns for people working with and or living in close proximity with. This product however is not banned in the EU and therefor also legal in the Netherlands.
Now to illustrate why I have a problem with this;
My appartement is situated on the 1st and 2nd floor of this building. It is a building originally build in 1650 and renovated in the 1970's. This means the appartement is crooked, is made mostly of wooden floors and leaks from time to time. The MMA inside the product used by the nail salon situated below my apartment is lighter than air, mean it rises and builds up as the day progresses. During any given day and opening hours of the nail salon the MMA builds up in my appartement causing headaches etc. Now because there is no law against this product, and there are no regulations for nail salons this is perfectly legal. I don't like this.

BAG TO SKILLS - Een reis in het veranderende werkveld

I like to introduce to my readers my latest work
Netflix has become in almost every household a norm, easily accessed by television, computer, laptop, tablet and mobile phone. A streaming service that takes up all your free time with their large collection of entertainment. But have you ever considered that your missing out on thousand other series, movies and documentaries only based on where you are located? Netflix is a large platform that strives for equal content worldwide. But even Netflix, offering an online streaming service, is bound to laws and regulations of any particular nation-state. Sometimes the content of Netflix offends a certain country, religion or tradition. In those cases censorship or ban have been implemented. The meaning of censorship is the suppression of prohibition of any parts of books, films, news etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. We are not anticipating that Netflix constitutes a threat or one of the above aspects. But there are countries where audiovisual productions are heavily surveilled, and some of the Netflix content is not and will not be tolerated. This work, the Red interactive installation, creates a spatial experience where visitors will be confronted by the fact that ‘Content moderation’ and ‘Free speech’ is not applied in all countries. You will participate in an interactive experience that shows the behind scene of Netflix. You are welcome to enter the Red Interactive Lounge now.

Mijn artistieke visie/professionele ambitie:
Afstudeerproject Kinship Homes:
Kinship_homes bonjour
I am a concept designer, photographer, and researcher. I am a social designer, concerned with current societal issues, like feminism, health, and sustainability.
I like to tackle serious issues, while rendering those in an implicit way, rather than explicit.
As a concept designer, I love to think of concepts to bring people together, connect people, and allow an exchange of ideas between different groups of people. As a photographer, I love to show the poetry in life, and to focus on details to offer an abstract view on the world. As a researcher, I love to learn new theories, which I can use to understand our present society better, and establish new connections. I also love to question established structures and power relations.
I am an altruistic person and designer. I don’t necessarily want to bring solutions, but instead, trigger reflection and change.
I am sensitive to music, photography, philosophy, art, fashion, good conversations, and interior design.
Subjects that fascinate me are the woman body, health, (mental) wellbeing, sexuality, ethics, gender roles, holistic care, self-love, power and control, sustainability, and feminism.
My goal as a designer is to inspire self-love, self-awareness and (inner) peace, to unveil the truth, the sharing of knowledge, to trigger my audience to think about things and question them, to offer a heightened knowledge, to bring social cohesion, and to show the beauty in life.
I want to inspire all of these things, because I believe that it is important for us to reconnect with ourselves in a society that is demanding, fast-moving and evolving quickly. A sense of self-love helps to stay grounded, and to face the unknowns and dilemmas of our society. To see the beauty and poetry in life is to grasp on to positivity. And I believe above all that a healthy society, is a healthy earth. Having self-love enables us to share it with others and use it for other things, such as the earth, who needs it so much.
I do aspire to shake up some aspects of our society.
