About
Here you'll find the latest developments in the field of social design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. It presents the work of fresh alumni graduating in the field of social design and a sneak peak into the context in which these alumni were educated; the 'shadow library'.
The projects derive from different disciplines - advertising, photography, fine art, spatial design, audio visual design, graphic design, product design, illustration, fashion, animation, lifestyle transformation design and fine art and design teacher training - but all emerged within the so-called 'social practices' at WdKA. Living in a world that faces huge societal issues WdKA approaches social design as a political act, aiming to stir up the status quo and striving for positive change. They are not only concerned with the aesthetics, the functionality and the conceptual meaning of art and design, but also aim to (re-)design the encompassing social, economic or ecological systems in a radical way.
Check out the fresh alumni work at this platform, start conversations with the makers by using the TALK button, visit the live expo at WdKA in Rotterdam and/or print your own personalized catalogue of this event - at home or live at the Beyond Social Print Kiosk.
